Trick or Treat Bag Craft

So, I'm sitting here thinking....what's next to be crafted with duct tape??

The Munchkin doesn't have a Trick or Treat bag yet. And, if she takes her candy collecting job a seriously as I did when I was a child, she'll need a bag that can handle big loads. Something heavy duty. Enter the duct tape.

 Seriously. This stuff is addictive.
And, the only thing that can damage it is my new puppy, Chloe. Whom, it appears, has developed a taste for it.
Should you decide you wanna be weird like me and make this bag (perhaps you take your trick or treating seriously too)....all you need is:
Black Duct Tape
Black Electrical Tape
Gift Bag
Orange Paper
 Hot Glue
~Tape that bag right up with the Duct Tape. Cover every bit of it. I wrapped the handles in the electrical tape because it was a thinner width and easier to maneuver. I also skipped taping the entire inside, because I am not trying to make this into a boat, just a super tough bag. :-)
~Cut out pumpkin face shapes from the orange paper and, using the electrical tape, tape it on.
~To make the flower just cut lots of strips of the electrical tape and fold them in on themselves so that it tapes to itself. To make curly ones just press the fold piece closed when it is in a curled position and it will hold it. Use hot glue to apply all the petals.
Voila!!
Pretty weird, huh? You should have seen the Hubby's face as he watched me assemble this craft. There was a tiny amount of glowing admiration sparkling in his eye....but I think he was just so proud his wife was crafting with duct tape. Cue the Tim "the Tool man" Taylor grunt. :-)

I joined these Funky parties (check them out and cry at your ineptitude) ;-) Just kidding.

Duct Tape Halloween Wreath Craft

Marvelously Messy
"Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together."
~Oprah Winfrey
Thanks goodness for Duct tape. It's unbelievable what this incredible tape can do. You see above the most recent example of my Halloween decor....but duct tape is capable of so much more. As a Maine-ah, I am particularly aware of the benefits of this wonder tape. We don't go anywhere without it. I was at a craft show at the end of the summer and there was booth entirely devoted to duct tape made goods. None of us were surprised to see it there though all of us were probably thinking, "Ayuh, I made that one befor-ah".
Marvelously Messy
One of the more popular humorists of central Maine, Gary Crocker, has devoted a whole section of his website to Duct Tape Tips:
  http://www.garycrocker.com/duct-tape-tips.html

Here's a few quotes to whet your appetite:

~New Year's Day was very slippery and I had to go down to feed the chickens. I didn't want to fall so I wrapped Duct Tape around my boots with the sticky side out and then stomped in the cat litter. I went down and fed the chickens with no problem- worked like a dream. Wife's not too happy though. Cat's litter box is in the bathroom and I had to track through the bedroom to get outside. Guess she doesn't appreciate ingenuity!

~If you are on a diet and the rest of your family is not, put all of their snacks into the refrigerator and tape the doors shut with Duct Tape. Every time you want something, removing the tape will make so much noise that it will alert the rest of the family and you will not eat what you are trying not to.

You can actually buy plaid duct tape at LL Beans:

Laugh all you want, but I'm eyeing this stuff for Christmas. :-)

If you want to make the wreath, it's really simple:
Black Duct Tape
Hot Glue
Black Electricians Tape
Dollar Store Raven
Foam Wreath
~Wrap that wreath all the way around with the duct tape.
~Make some sneaky little rosettes with the electricians tape and hot glue them onto the wreath (if you are going to place this outside, 'cause, hey, it's totally waterproof). If it is staying inside, you probably don't need to hot glue as long as you left some viable sticky surface of the electrical tape.
~Use the wonderfully little wires attached to the birds feet and push them through the tape and into the foam. Barring a hurricane, they're not going anywhere.

“Magnetism is one of the Six Fundamental Forces of the Universe, with the other five being Gravity, Duct Tape, Whining, Remote Control, and The Force That Pulls Dogs Toward The Groins Of Strangers.”
~Dave Barry
